The Decline: The Geography of a Recession by LaToya Egwuekwe
According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 30 million people currently unemployed — that’s including those involuntarily working part-time and those who want a job, but have given up on trying to find one. In the face of the worst economic upheaval since the Great Depression, millions of Americans are hurting.

The omnipresent oppressive aura of Camelot-the Kennedy mystique.

For years I have felt self conscious, uncomfortable, and unable to express my conservative views because I felt like a fish out of water. It is only something people who have lived in Massachusetts for years would understand. The culture in this state demanded it. It [...]

After reading Neal Gabler’s misguided observation of us last week in the Globe (Politically Exhausted), I felt compelled to respond. (Thank you to the Globe for including my response.) How fitting that this should be published the day after President Obama signs into law the largest piece of legislation ever passed in this nation and [...]

Not the best day but if we stop now, they will win. And we will lose even more freedoms. We have a few options – the three R’s. Remedy, as in legal remedies – Repeal, which is obvious – Revolution, as in a complete flip of the House in November.
But first, I think [...]

Massachusetts: Health Care Utopia?
Murphy spoke passionately about the overreach of the Federal health care bill. He stated it would “follow the same path as Massachusetts-but on steroids.” The state bill is barely 70 pages, while the colossal federal bill towers at almost 2,700. Nancy Turnbull, who supports more government regulation, appeared to have no problem with that. She proceeded to calculate out loud, “70 pages multiplied by 50 states…” That comment was followed by some actual booing from the crowd. By her calculations, we are saving about 800 pages. Nancy, let’s not give Congress any ideas.

Boston – March 16, 2010 – In response to their Representatives outrageous refusal to represent their constituencies, Tea party activists from across Massachusetts will gather in protest at District Congressional offices across the state. With a vote on the Senate Healthcare Reform bill expected in the House later this week, activists decided it was time to once again take to the streets in an effort to remind elected representatives they are to vote according to the will of the people.
With less than 48 hours notice, Tea Party leaders are confident that their members will come out because of the looming vote. Barbara Klain, of the Greater Lowell Tea Party, says she is happy to come out once again if it means her representative, Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, might finally get the message. “We have been voicing our opposition to the Democratic leadership’s healthcare reform plans for nearly a year. We spoke directly with Congresswoman Tsongas at a Town Hall meeting this summer. She knows how we feel yet she ignores us. We will not be ignored.” Mrs. Klain plans together with other members of her organization at Tsongas’ Lowell office from 4 Pm-M – 6 PM. “We will not give up our freedoms easily,” she said.
Christen Varley of the Greater Boston Tea Party is helping to coordinate the statewide event. “We have contacted thousands of activists across the state and hope that many will come out to support this effort. This is it – we must not give an inch.” The Greater Boston Tea Party is a group of citizens who are concerned with the increasingly burdensome reach of government. Our mission is to educate and advocate for the restoration and defense of public policy that promotes limited government, free markets, free speech, individual liberty and personal responsibility, all tenets of the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights. The group puts on demonstrations and protests through out the Greater Boston Metro area. They are currently planning a rally scheduled for Boston on April 14th, 2010 with the Tea Party Express. Sarah Plain is expected t headline the event.

What a long strange year its been
By Christine Morabito, member since April 2009
It’s been almost a year since the Tax Day Tea Party on the Boston Common, an event that proved to be the kick-off for an exciting and powerful movement here and across the country. For me personally, it was my first foray into the world of political activism. I [...]
